What If Other Comic Book Movies Were Named Like Birds of Prey?

So last month, it was announced that the Birds of Prey movie was, in fact, actually titled Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). A joke title that turned into the real one, the title is obviously indicative of the tone of the movie, going for something a lot more funny and lighthearted then, say, Batman v Superman or even Suicide Squad. But what if other comic book movies copied this same title template? What would they look like then?

First, let’s start with the DCEU:
  • Man of Steel (or: the Unfortunate Upbringing of One Clark Kent)
  • Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (and the Various Teases of Movies That Will Never Happen)
  • Suicide Squad (or: the Trailer Was Better: The Movie)
  • Wonder Woman (or: Finally, After All These Years)
  • Justice League (and the Great Disappointment)
  • Aquaman (or: Can You Actually Believe You’re Excited for This Film?)

And now, let’s move on to other comic book films:
  • Captain America: Civil War (or: the Battle of the Bros)
  • Logan (or: How To Make a Violent and Depressing Superhero Movie Still Good)
  • X-Men: Apocalypse (or: When Will Bryan Singer Stop Directing, Please)
  • Black Panther (and the Most Complex Villain in Any Marvel Movie)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (or: the Movie No-one Will Shut Up About Until the Next One Comes Out)
  • Once Upon a Deadpool (or: a Shameless Recut Designed to Bring In More Money and Show Disney That a PG-13 Deadpool Movie Can Totally Work)

It's no secret that the last Marvel/DC crossover was JLA/Avengers (or Avengers/JLA ) in 2004 and nothing since. Marvel/DC crossovers used to be an interesting phenomenon, events that happened at random moments when the two companies got along enough to get together in order to make something that would make them both a lot of money. And from Superman vs the Amazing Spider-Man to DC vs. Marvel to  JLA/Avengers , they happened at an irregular, if steady pace, until they came to an end. There are, however, secret crossovers. Characters that have appeared in one universe and then appeared in the other. Characters that didn't belong to either Marvel or DC (at the time) and therefore were able to slide between the two. Think of a Venn Diagram: one circle is Marvel, the other is DC, and in the middle? These franchises. First, the rules: Rule 1: It has to be an IP that was separate from both Marvel and DC, even if it is currently owned by Marvel and/or DC and/or their parent companies....

The History of the X-Men Logos, Part One: Uncanny X-Men

 A history of the X-Men logo over the years. The X-Men #1 (July 2, 1963) The X-Men #4 (January 3, 1964) The fourth issue introduces a tiny flying Angel above the logo that lasts until issue 13. The X-Men #15 (October 5, 1965) The fifteenth issue reintroduces the tiny flying Angel, but slightly higher than before. This lasts until issue 22. The X-Men #24 (June 30, 1966) The 24th issue introduces a tiny Professor X above the logo. This lasts until issue 38. The X-Men #42 (January 9, 1968) The beginning of a stretch where the X-Men logo is smaller and placed above cover copy as "The X-Men featuring." This lasts until issue 48. X-Men #50 (September 10, 1968) The first issue to use the new, more iconic logo created by new artist Jim Steranko. X-Men #56 (March 12, 1969) The first instance of a character on the cover grabbing or interacting with the logo.
